The Memorial weekend is upon us and a lot of folks will be rolling out their grills for the very first time…WEIRD RIGHT!!?!?? What is going on the cooker or on the grill this weekend for all of you? I worked out a new recipe for ribs that I am going to try…will also be adding bbq baked beans and 1/2 chickens!
Please remember to give thanks to service men and women who have or are currently serving this great country of ours! Without them we would not have all that we do!

First grill with the Performer!!!!!
I picked up a family pack of chicken thighs for under a buck a lb. and will be smoking them on the Weber grill tomorrow. I’m really learning the joys of smoking on the Weber. It holds the head much better than my cheap Brinkmann. Going to grill some new potatoes too–yum! Besides that, I found a recipe for making yogurt that is being kept warm tonight in hope of “cultural renewal.”:)
Hope to get over to my “meat guy” tomorrow for some ground beef and pork shoulder. I always brag about their hamburger: 90% lean for $2.90 a lb. Red through and through. They grind multiple times during the day and sell to local taverns and restaurants besides their customers. Love their ham steaks too: they smoke their own hams! Hoping to cure pork loin next week for Canadian bacon. I did it once before with great results.
Happy Smoking!
