About The Guest HOF

In September 2018, The first appearance of The BBQ Central Show Guest Hall of Fame came into focus. It was a concept that was originally pitched as a topic for the monthly Embedded Correspondents segment.  However, after that first night of debate, we soon realized that the “Guest HOF” was something that HAD to become an annual event.  A new class of inductees will be picked each September (or thereabouts) and the proceedings will be held on the 4th Tuesday of that month during the designated “Embedded Correspondent” segments.

🔥 The Nomination Process

The panel that comes up with names for potential inclusion in the Hall are my Embedded Correspondents and they are as follows:

  • Doug Scheiding – Texas
  • Jon Solberg – Michigan
  • Rusty Monson – Utah
  • Matt Osman - Tennessee

Unlike the BBQ Hall of Fame, which continues to refuse my brilliance (for now anyway), we will not be taking nominations from the audience. All of the EC’s and myself will pick 5 names that we feel are worthy of nomination.  To qualify for consideration, you need to have been a guest on the show…that’s it!!

🔥 How The Class Is Determined

  • We will all take turns going over our list of 5 nominations.
  • After each person gives their list, there is a chance we might have a unanimous name (or names), meaning all 5 of us picked the same person. THOSE names automatically go into Guest HOF class.
  • With the remaining spots left, we will then begin the additional Guest HOF deliberations! We will methodically go around the panel, each person will pick someone off their list of remaining names and make a case for that particular person to be inducted into the Guest HOF. The other panel members will then agree or disagree with that name. In order to have the nomination go in, EVERYONE must agree on the name!

This process continues until we come up with a total of (5) Guest HOF members!

*NOTE: In its first year of existence (2018), the class was much bigger as we believed the base of initial inductees should be broad and more inclusive.  Going forward, the list will much more discerning.

While this panel of voting experts will not be taking public input on who should be in the Guest Hall of Fame each year, we are happy to take your emails on why we are right or wrong.  We are also happy to hear who you would have put in, but your suggestions will not be given weight as it relates to our vote.

🔥 What Do you Get If You Are Inducted Into The Guest Hall Of Fame:

A Large Cash Award: NO!

A Cool T-Shirt: NO!

A Jolt in Fame and Social Status: Maybe – But not guaranteed

The ability to make an acceptance speech on the show: 🔥YES!
